HelloCJLldt, You might try the below instructions and see if Windows will re-activate.

1 Click the Start button.

2 Type: CMD.exe in the run box.

3 Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator

4 Type: net stop sppsvc It may ask you if you are sure, select yes

Note: the Software Protection servive may not be running, this is ok.

5 Type: cd windir ServiceProfiles NetworkService AppData Roaming Microsoft SoftwareProtectionPlatform

6 Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar

7 Type: cd windir system32

8 Type: net start sppsvc

9 Type: slui.exe

10 After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear.

Press the enter key on the keyboard after each command.

You may be asked to re-enter the Product Key and/or re-activate or Activation may occur automatically.

Since there is a lot of information here, you might want to copy and paste these instructions into a Word or WordPad document and then print them, so you can enter the information exactly as it is on the instructions. One wrong typo will cause these commands to fail.

i am havins the same problem with Vista home premium activation failure.

my product is HP compaq presario V6562EA

Product number P/N : gt445ea

Serial number S/N : Removed for privacy

but i might be entering the licence key wrong as it is mostly un readable after all the years of use.

so how can i rectify this, and sort the Vista validation.

the second problem, is the bios fails to allow. my next upgrade.

a new SSD.

I got it working. but BIOS does not allow you to see both drives.. in boot order bios UEFI.

I solved this by deleting the 1st 2 partions, of the old HDD,

now SSD runs like lighting and BIOS, can be ignored.

I used Acronis to make tib files of all the above steps and evolutions so am good.. and did to and external huge drive.

Rocket Life will chime in at some point and he can explain best how HP Photo Creations works since he is the creator of the program.

In the mean time, I will try to help as best I can.

I clicked on the plus button on the preview page and it just replicates the collage I currently made WITHOUT the photos.

That is how it works for me also. When you click the sign, it will generate another page duplicating the previous page.

I think this is for those who are making a simple layout and want to keep it the same, Less effort is involved.

IF you want to change the next layout, you will need to manually remove or reposition/resize the blank photo to drop another image into it. The background carries over to the next page also. You can remove or replace this by going to Design left side and then clicking on Backgrounds at the bottom to bring up the options to change it.

There is no way I know of to make it create a completely blank page each time unless you start with a blank and duplicate it several times, then go back and start creating on the first page.

I also want to use templates for my photos. Is there the option for that.

Not sure what you mean by templates to choose from but there is lots of Themes to choose from which may be the same thing you are talking about. I do not see a way to save a custom set of templates but you can Save a Project to open later and work from.

Like I said, Rocket Life will join in soon and explain anything I have left out.

Well, its hard for me to answer because everyones interpretation of something will be different than anothers.

In Photo Creations, when it comes time to choose from Prints, Collage Prints, Cards, etc, those to me are the Templates to choose from in my interpretation.

I took a look around Snapfish without creating an account and could see an option for Page Layouts when creating a photo book that worked differently than Photo Creations. Those were more pre-determined layouts that could be called templates.

I think what you are asking is about some feature of another program that either Photo Creations does not have or works differently than what you are used to.

Each Program has a feature that another program does not.

The more you play around with that program, the better you get with it.

I dont know what else to say.

I have been passed a Compaq PC with preloaded Windows Vista. It belongs to the local church and is surplus to requirements so I was asked to make sure it was cleaned of all user information.

The simplest way was to run the factory restore utility and reset it back to new status. I wanted to check it had worked as intended to so I started the registration process, I can always re-run the restore again. It loads and processes the OOBE screens as normal however when I step through the screens offered to the user the Compaq registration screen is already filled in with the original owners details.

One of the key uses of the factory restore function would be to clean down a system ready to be sold off or disposed of so it displaying the original owner details rather defeats the object. Where would Vista be retaining this data despite the restore process. If needed I can boot in Audit mode to clean off the data.

Windows 8 could be an option for you. None of the HP value added software would be available.

Try the below Microsoft analysis tool to see if you would have any issues with using Windows 8.

I clicked on link. Message said Windows 8 isn t available for my location.

Here is my situation. I had left my desktop computer sitting for like 20 minutes and come back it had gone to sleep. I hit the spacebar on the keyboard to wake it up. Then I find all my explorer pages had closed out or something. I had been using the computer just fine all day now it decides to give me a problem.

I try to reopen the Windows Internet Explorer and get this message in a small box that comes up after it appears to be analyzing a problem

Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available

Well I m lucky I can come on my wifes laptop and actually type this. I have tried restarting my computer and every time I try to open the internet explorer I get the same message. Why is this happening. Everything was working fine. I have seen something about a KB issue and it directs to a webpage telling about it. But with no way to even do anything on the explorer how do I fix this. This isn t happening on this laptop so why on the desktop. They both have Windows 7 and the same Internet Explorer

I really like how it tells me it will notify me if a solution is available. How can you if the explorer isn t working properly.

Does anyone have any solutions to this issue. Thanks in advance. Hopefully it is something that will be worked out on its own, but each time I ve tried to restart it it won t work properly.

After the last critical update about a week ago I have to perform System Restore in order to access my internet provider. Updates are automatic so everyday my updates install and everyday I have to do a system restore.

I ran the troubleshooter and it didn t work. I hide the update, restarted computer and the rest of the updates worked and I have no problems accessing the internet. Thanks for your help.

was on the phone with HP for 61 minutes but there was satisfaction at the end. Spoke to 3 different departments but great customer service - and they are shipping me the recovery disks

If you can still read the 25-digit Windows product key on the Microsoft COA affixed to your computer, you can type this key in to reactivate your computer. You can also return the computer to a factory like state using the HP Recovery Media you created when you first setup the computer. This may also resolve your activation issue. What you are seeing is normally the result of a corrupt Windows file or a corrupt BIOS.

Yesterday hard drive got broken. I am ready to buy and install new hard drive, but I have no disc with Windows.

Is there any way to obtain Windows from HP. Microsoft customer support told me that it should be possible.

Did you create a set of HP recovery discs for your PC. Try recovering your PC with the recovery discs if your failed recovery attempt was performed using the HDD recovery partition.

Recovery discs are not available for your PC from either: HP, Computer Surgeons, or Best2Serve-UK.

You may have to download Vista, burn to disc, and do a clean install. Then install drivers from HP s Software and driver download site for your PC. The Vista download link provides details on how to create the bootable disc or USB drive.

Here are instructions on activating Vista.
